B&C Speed Builds - Troops: Sniper scouts

2nd week of the B&C build challenge and troops are on the list. I seem to take ages to build up regular marines, but scouts seem to be a much faster option. Build & test paint below...

Amazing to be working on a kit that is literally 3 parts per mini, with no real customisation or choice... virtually all the parts from this kit get used (one troop gets choice of missile launcher or rifle).

One little extra I did want to work on - the 5th marine only has an option for a rolled up camo cloak, so instead I did a press mold of oyamaru and then pressed a green stuff version into the back of the final dude.

Quick basing version... coffee and rocks.

Primed and with a vallejo grey dusting to start adding some urban flavour

I've started mucking around with one of them using an urban camo scheme - most of my terrain is city greys, with a few hints of blood angels marking. Hence, also adding a bit of red to the urban camo - should help blend with the surrounds as well as give a bit of a cue to line up with the rest of the red army.

The vallejo colour is close to eshin grey, followed by a solid dabbing of khorne red. Then celestra grey stripes randomly applied and abbadon black over the top of that. This has been applied to fatigues and main parts of the rifle as well as the cloak.

Bit annoyingly - the nuln oil wash has knocked a bit of the colour out; will have to keep it to a more carefully placed wash on the rest and avoid the flat sections.

Effect isn't too bad - these guys will get a few details like lenses picked out but was always aiming to spend minimal time on scouts so the finish won't be brilliant (nor will they look like the box art). I might flick a little drybrush over the hair and face to give a hint of colour but quite like the idea of keeping the faces a dark grey to hide in the ruins :-)
