B&C Speed Builds - HQs: Captain & Lieutenants

I've been mulling over which bits would eventually make up my captain, and generally putting off actually doing it by working on more troops... The B&C Blood & Zeal challenge has been a good excuse to just commit and just start my HQs. Captain & 2 lieutenants got a good leg up as a result...

The B&C is running a different unit type each week - 7 days to take a unit (or units) from sprue to undercoat, starting with HQs in week 1. I've had some parts from sanguinary guard, commander, BA tactical and death company sprues in mind for while - plus some spare parts and newly acquired Sternguard (mainly for the lieutenants) bits to add.

The lieutenants will have relatively minimal loadout (plus jump pack option) but are magnetised at the shoulders for any future swaps or ruleset changes. Sternguard legs and sanguinary guard bodies.

The 'main' captain loadout I had in mind was jump pack, hammer & shield.

Originally I was thinking about using the Delassio jump pack, but discovered that the extra height on the shoulder guards are too big for a standard jump pack. Plan B was to use a set of sanguinary guard wings instead for some more room. The wings themselves are pinned into the pack with a heavy paperclip pin & superglue.

The BA terminator sergeant shield is such a nice piece of work - it covers a lot of the captain model (which is a bit of a shame), but should look pretty good with some colour and gives yet another grail icon to reflect the 5th Co heraldry.

Alternate loadout is an inferno pistol and power sword (also a fairly unique piece - from the Vanguard set). Plus a banner-pack for some extra heraldry and when sticking the captain in the backfield without jump pack. I'm picturing this more as general-on-a-hill mode rather than the aggressive thunder hammer & jump pack option.

Exploded options - 9 magnets (the one in the sanguinary guard wings is actually a stronger one to carry the extra weight).

To finish the challenge, up to at least undercoat is required - these have had some basecoating and gloss in readiness for a wash & detailing (plus some of the red areas that will go on the gold captain). Lieutenants have been given a sternguard bolter (which will serve as master-crafted) and sword as default.

All three also have a banner-pack; I'll likely use a black circle for the lieutenants (to distinguish from what my sergeants get), while the captain will get a grail decal and some extras as personal heraldry.

The forum challenge has (as always) been a good nudge to get some procrastination out of the way and just get stuck in. Week ahead will be a troop challenge - possibly a good reason to get some sniper scouts on the table (without needing as much work as the red).
