Showcase: Tactical Squad Maalik

5th Company, 3rd Squad 'Maalik', and second completed tactical squad. In keeping with a very loose mythology theming, Maalik is an angel guardian of hell, known as the keeper of hellfire. As a flamer/heavy flamer squad, this seemed like a good fit to me :-)

The sergeant banner on my previous (first) squad was a standard tactical - this is the first one I've had with the extra blood angels bling, and the little square space on the top makes a good place to replicate the squad iconography. Having done one, this will need to carry over to other squads.

Equipped with flamer & power sword as default loadout (arms are magnetised); I opted to go for an older (grey) hair look. Raised blood drop on the right shoulder is greenstuff.

Designated 2nd in charge (corporal?) has a bit of extra bling vs the other tactical marines and would be the one to stick out front of a combat squad if split into 5 & 5.

Flamer dude - having a look at the photos blown up, his weapon is slightly out of focus... happy with a few of the specific details on this one, like the canister from the basing kit and the clipped chapter marking fitting in with the parchment on the left shoulder.

The heavy flamer is an awesome BA-specialised tool and like the way this mini came together. The extra bling on the legs from the BA-tactical squad is great, and the 'gas mask' head suits (I assume the fumes are a bit full on). One thing I would change - I hadn't realised the weapon would be carried quite that low; if I'd thought about it, I would have picked a more BA/decorated chest piece rather than the generic one he got.

Designated marksman - no in-game benefit, but aiming for a little extra character. Scope, plus targeting sensor helmet.

The 6 'marked' squad members. I'm trying to keep at least 6 members of each 10 man squad with knee iconography.

Final shot... this is the 10 man squad on one of Tablewar's 32m display trays. The marine bases are magnetised and lock onto the tin sheet, with some debris & sand glued/painted to match the squads. These are pretty cool - the magnets keep them on there when tipping them up at 90 degrees, so should be pretty safe with a bit of rattling in the case during transport.
