Some of the troops starting to come together - still rather crappy quality pics via mobile-phone-on-the-move style shooting...
Gold and bunch of the details blocked in as well as armour highlights - the raised bolter & bling backpack will end up as the 'corporal' for the 10 man squad, or defacto sergeant if I break them up into 5-man combat squads.
These 5 are largely done - the shoulders and knee are a horribly reflective mix here from the layer of gloss ('ardcoat) that will live under the decals. Final spray varnish will knock that back (and probably tone a bit of the overall colour as well).
Every marine army needs a plasma gunner who is a bit scared of scoring a home goal. I'm not completely convinced on the plasma effect on this one, but might leave it until I have a couple of devastators & pistols to do at the same time and then load the airbrush up for some soft hazes.
The extra bling detail from the BA tactical sprues is quite nice - although does add a good bit of time to pick out ropes, drops & gold details. The mixture here feels about right - mainly standard tactical squad with 2-3 details from the BA grab bag; maybe just a backpack plus a bolter with blood drop details.
Pretty much just decals to go on this batch. Then repeat on the second 5-man squad before matt varnishing.
